Tell the truth or vow to refrain from lies. Again the precept asks you directly, please vow to tell the truth...and more. It asks us to stop believing the lies wwe tell ourselves; the lies of the conditioned mind that we build our life on and live each day from...if you believe you are "bad" that is a lie; if you believe you are "good" that is a lie...we flip back and forth trying to protect these ideas about who we believe we are and they are at the root of not telling the truth...It's the me we hold onto and grasp that is at the bottom of the lies we live.

Yesterday I listened to the CD on 'Tell the Truth' and the conversation regarding the story of the person who discovered she was living a lie in believing "LIFE IS HARD" and the discusion that if a person is ignorant about it, then it is not a lie. Well, could it be that yes, she is living a lie but due to ignorance she is not actually telling a lie because she is blind. I know I live a lie right now due to ignorance but that does not make me a liar in this case and hopefully someday I will see Truth. So, can one not live a lie, Ignorance, and still not 'commit' a lie???? Or something???
